Lessons From Behind Bars

We are well into spring now and things are very active again. My wife, Lisa, and I determined to start this year by stepping back a little to see if we could get perspective, vision, and direction for the year. To some degree, that is always an on-going process because as we read in Proverbs, "A man makes plans in his heart, but the Lord directs his steps."

One thing I started to do is write about what we have done and learned since starting this ministry in 2009. It may become a book called "Lessons from Behind Bars." It is interesting how a simple invitation to come play a concert can grow into what has now been my full-time pursuit for several years! You just never know when God is going to open a door - even one you were not knocking on!

I will share just one thought from about 50 pages of writing so far. What I do has grown out of a personal passion - in my case making music. There has not always been a place for the music I like to make in a church setting. What I have discovered is that there has always been a place for my passion in the Kingdom of God setting. In other words, God is giving grace to his people for special adventures he prepared before the creation of the world! (Ephesians 2:10) Many of those adventures will not happen on Sunday morning or in a church building.

So, go out there and find your adventure!
